Goa International Airport is a world-class facility developed by the GMR Group. The Facade Consultancy Services were instrumental in delivering a high-performance, visually striking building envelope that complements the airport’s architectural ambition. The design vision included a curtain wall façade spanning approximately 21 meters from floor to roof edge—requiring innovative engineering and precise execution.

To meet this challenge, a custom-designed structural frame system was developed to provide minimal visual obstruction while maintaining cost-effectiveness. A predominantly unitized curtain wall system was chosen to ensure faster installation with consistently high quality.

The scope of services included comprehensive design development, material and system selection, structural and thermal performance assessments, wind-load analysis, and compliance with international standards and local codes. The façade access systems for both the passenger building and the air traffic control tower were meticulously integrated with the overall façade strategy to ensure both functionality and aesthetics.

Additionally, the consultancy provided Facade Quality Management Services throughout the construction phase. This included regular on-site inspections, quality audits, mock-up reviews, and coordination with contractors to ensure adherence to design intent, performance criteria, and best installation practices.

Through a blend of technical expertise, quality oversight, and architectural sensitivity, the facade consultancy contributed significantly to the realization of a modern, efficient, and iconic airport terminal.
